How to Install KeePassXC on Windows – Techville CA Guide

Visit the official KeePassXC site and download the latest Windows installer. Techville CA always recommends using the official source for safety.

Open the downloaded installer and follow the prompts to install KeePassXC. Accept defaults unless you have specific needs.

When creating your database, choose a **recognizable name** like PersonalPasswords or WorkVault. Then save the `.kdbx` file in a **Documents** folder or another location you’ll remember — this file is your secure password vault. Later and each time you update we suggest copying this file to a USB stick and put in a safe place.

Your master password is the single key that protects everything in your vault. We recommend a long, unique phrase you can remember. If forgotten, you will be permanently locked out. Perhaps write it down and store in a safe place. Important: DO NOT save this in a file on your computer or mobile device.

Let’s create your first saved login:

1. Select your database in KeePassXC.
2. Click Add New Entry (or press Ctrl + I).
3. Fill in the fields:
   • Title: Techville Email
   • Username: jane.doe@example.com
   • Password: Click Generate Password for a strong secure value.
   • URL: https://mail.techville.ca
   • Notes: (optional) e.g., security questions or backup codes

Click OK or Save to store your entry. Repeat this process for other logins with unique passwords.
